Law Day 2015

  • State Bar of Georgia
The Law Day Dream Team has collaborated with the National Center for Civil and Human Rights, the State Bar of Georgia, the Atlanta Bar Association, various minority bar associations, and the Atlanta Public Schools to plan and sponsor award winning programs focused on the American Bar Association’s Law Day themes. The theme for Law Day 2015 is "Magna Carta: Symbol of Freedom Under Law" to mark the 800th anniversary of the sealing of the Magna Carta. The 2015 program will focus exclusively on high school students. One of the lasting principals from the Magna Carta that was adopted into our Constitution is the right to a trial by a jury of one’s peers. To celebrate that fundamental right, students from Therrell High School will perform a mock trial, and other students from Atlanta, Savannah, and Tifton will serve as the jurors and render their verdicts. The Honorable Robert McBurney has agreed to preside at the trial. We are looking for volunteers in all capacities to assist in at least 3 hour shifts. If interested, please email ghbaofficers@gmail.com with your availability.
